Halloween was great for the kids last night and for once work didn’t interfere with my plans. At the gym this morning I worked my biceps, forearms, wrists and abdomen. I then got in about 200 minutes of batting practice in the basketball court. I continue to throw the hard tennis ball against the wall and then try to hit at various stages and heights of the bounce. I am practice front foot, back foot, drives, cuts etc.. I have also been experimenting with a shot I read about in “ Beyond A Boundary” I’m not quite sure of the official name but if a ball pitches really high so that it is over you head. Instead of raising the bat over your head and slapping the ball down with the face of the bat you watch the ball and just as you anticipate that the ball will pass over your head area, you list the bat up in front and at the last minute, you raise it like you were going to shovel dirt and throw it over your shoulder. If you get it right the ball will be go behind you into the long stop, fine leg or third man areas. It is all in the timing but this could be a good technique and I will continue to practice it.

Today was triceps day at the gym as well as some abdominal work. I also got in some batting practice. Batting never gets boring and I have the time to practice all my shots. I continue to follow the credo which I have found most follow. “see the ball, anticipate the pitch, get your eyes behind , get your feet where they need to be in order to get the ball where you want it to go”. I am still reading the short stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald and pretty much use his style as my inspiration as I continue to write my own material.

I worked on shoulders and my abdomen this morning. I can’t wait for my Ashes 2005 video to get here. Hopefully, it will be here by tomorrow. I have to work late tonight but hopefully it won’t interfere with the gym tomorrow. We are playing a match amongst ourselves this Sunday. I don’t mind because I play the same way no matter what. I give 100% at all times plus I want to face our bowlers because they are good and I want to bat against the best. Who knows, I might even get a chance to bowl because it is a practice.
